A Few New Items...

Hi all!

A brief recap of some recent releases that you might want to know about.

First, the 3rd season of Robot Chicken was released on DVD last week. That season contains the episode "Squaw Bury Shortcake," which has a brief BotP parody segment. It can be found at many major retailers. The segment only runs about 1 minute long, so I'll leave it up to you as to whether you'd want to buy the set just for that.

Next, the home version of the Tatsunoko Vs Capcom game is being released in Japan for the Nintendo Wii on December 11th. It will retail for 6,990 yen, and as far as I am aware, it will not play on a standard U.S. Wii system. But if you know someone with a Japanese system, or one modified to play Japanese games, this one's for you!

By the way, if you haven't looked at it, the Capcom website does have a nice section for the game. It can be found at:

http://www.capcom.co.jp/tatsucap/index.html

The site has been updated recently enough to include Jun as part of the line-up of characters. The two short promotional movies on the site are also worth watching. It was nice to see that Katsuji Mori and Kazuko Sugiyama are returning to provide the voices of Ken and Jun.

Also, from now until the end of the year, bottles of Pokka Coffee bought out of Japanese vending machines will come with an exclusive Gatchaman figure hidden inside the removable cap. There are six figures in the set, including the five members of the Science Ninja Team and Berg Katse, so you could end up drinking a lot of coffee to get all six. The figures come in several smaller pieces, and stand 5~7cm tall when assembled.

And, lastly, the Yatterman TV special that included cameos of the Gatchaman characters, as well as Speed Racer, has been released on DVD. In can be found on the 5th volume of the Yatterman DVDs, along with episode #13 of the Yatterman TV series. The DVD retails for 3,990 yen. Like most Japanese DVDs, this disc in Region 2 encoded, so you'd need a modified DVD player to watch it outisde of Japan or Europe. Also, the disc is entirely in Japanese, with no English language audio or subtitle options available.

And that should bring you up to date, for now at least!

Y'know, if I lived in Japan, I may have become a coffee drinker! It would have been worth the endless hours of bouncing off the walls! (of course, with my luck, I would have ended up with six Katse's...) Bonkers2

Well since you are an Eagle, having 6 Katse's should be perfect. Then you can destroy 5 of them, leaving one to remain in perfect condition for your collection. Big Grin

What destroy Katse, or collect several figurines to be destroyed?

I bought several Kewpei figures so I could wear one on my lanyard and so I could keep one for "good".

Since those are free, with the price of a coffee, I would happily collect several of each character.

No. I would trade the other 5 on EBay. Wink

Now if it were 5 Red Impulses, they would be destroyed... Devil1

Hi all!

Actually, the figures are randomly packed with the various Pokka coffees. And from what I've seen, each figure is made in equal quantities. So, if you had the opportunity to buy a Pokka Aromax Espresso, you'd have a 1 in 6 chance of getting a Katse.

Hi all!

Well, I haven't been to Little Tokyo or Japantown to see if there might be some in the vending machines there, but I doubt that they are. These items are made for consumers in Japan, not overseas. With that being the case, there really is no reason for them not to have their website in Japanese, since the English-speaking market is not who they are aiming for.

James do you think that Japanese food store here in the U.S. might carry them? At least you we might get a shot at getting those figures.
