Nambu/Chief Anderson Week

This is the tread to post your Nambu/Chief Anderson Pics, or to ask any questions or provide any information you may have about him.

So let me start with a question that has been touched on in the past:

Would what Nambu/Anderson did be considered child abuse? And, considering this program was so specialized what circumstances would happen to have the "children" removed from Nambu/Anderson. (This is something I have been wondering about in my AU. I see Mark, and possibly the others, being removed from Anderson's care for a short time but do not see the reason(s) why he/they are removed.)

In reality, I would always think that it's a terrible thing to send children into combat as soldiers. But, where television is concerned, I can look at it a different way. I think that all the young viewers of Gatchaman/BOTP in the 1970s, children and teens, knew damned well that they, in real life, would never actually be required or allowed to do anything like what the Science Ninjas/G Force were doing on the TV screen, but it would have been exciting to watch characters their own ages actually getting to do dangerous hero-adventure stuff, imagining that they too could do that.

Where Dr. Nambu is concerned, I try to tell myself that he alone, years earlier, saw and understood the growing threat of Galactor, but no one at the UN would believe him or listen to him, so he used his position at the ISO to develop the Science Ninjas, but for some reason he either couldn't get any adults to train with birdstyles, weapons, God Phoenix, and in desperation started training his children (hoping that his fears about Galactor would prove to be unfounded), or he honestly believed that it would be many more years before Galactor became a real threat and they would be older, or he would have had a chance to get older candidates for the team by then.

I confess I've given less thought to Anderson's situation, but I would probably try to justify his use of children by making it such that only children could get the cerebonic implants, he thought he would have more time before they had to start fighting (and the ones who wanted to opt out would be allowed to do so), or that he was being forced by an uncaring government, desperate to do anything to defend Earth from Spectra.

I would like to contribute some interesting Nambu pictures from Gatchaman Fighter.

Nambu fights off Galactor agents without the benefit of the Science Ninja Team:

Pulling the ring out of a grenade with his teeth:

Using his overheated rifle barrel as a weapon of last resort:

Here are some shots of Joe getting angry with Nambu for letting Ken use the Hypershoot (which led to Ken's illness):

(I think these pics could be nicely supplemented if anyone has screencaps of Joe belting Nambu in the Aurora ep frm Gatch 1... hint hint...)

The team is distressed in Gatchaman II when they rush to the hospital, finding out that Nambu has been shot:

And lastly, something I know EVERYONE was dying to see...

Nambu in his PJs!

Ok, some of these pics creep me out a bit...just because I don't think of Nambu in any type of "sexual" way...but they are good pics...and some of these are very funny...
These are from Allen Rowe, and Wendy Dinsmore, and maybe another artist (I hope I'm not leaving anyone out)

Oh come on, the man is extremely smart, single, in decent shape, has a nice house and, when pushed to it, can wield a rifle quite effectively -he's far from hopeless! Wink3

Sure. ITA with all of that... but face it, he's not smexy... there's just no desire there at all. And in fact, the mere thought of it makes me feel all squicky.... ugh. Spooked

Maybe it's the big bushy mustache... I've never been turned on by facial hair...

Is that what it is? I feel the same way about facial hair. Clean, baby face all the way for me .... (at least that is what I always imagine for a D/H. Maybe I am limiting myself too much and that is why I can not find an Eagle.)

Can anyone get their photoshop program working and remove Nambu's mustache so we can see what is underneath? Biglaugh3

BTW LB: thank you for your response to my query. Not that it helps in my AU but it has given me more to think about.

It could be that my BF is brainy, emotionally reserved, has glasses, wears a suit every day, is sixteen years older than me, had a mustache in the 70s (I've seen pictures)... Laugh1

Still, no one compares to Joe or Ken.

My Dad has a beard and mustache, and my brother's had a mustache since he was about 20 (except for the five years with his first wife), so I guess I'm used to seeing facial hair on men. The BF is clean shaven.

I'd take a stab at photoshopping Nambu's mustache away but the BF is using that computer to install a new printer on the network. Sigh.

Aaah, Dr. Kozaburo Nambu, let me share some of my favorite pics or poses of Dr. Nambu (warning:all of the pics are not of serious or "smutty" nature, if you prefer those kinds of pics, see pics from other members above, biggrin2 )

This is a very nice close up of our beloved director, but wait, is that a piece of RAMEN noodle dangling on his sexy moustache????

Oh no, now the ramen is wrapped around his moustache

Now it looks like the ramen is entering his nose!!!

And now the ramen is gone, FANTASTIC, Nambu Hakase, you should have joined the show "Utoland's Got Talent"Thumbsup

And here are some shots from the anime "Nurse Witch Komugi" in which Dr. Nambu & the KNT made a cameo. Here is a pic of Dr. Nambu (with pink hair and ribbons on his hair, how cute, kinda reminding of Sailor Chibi Moon from Sailor Moon) giving his usual lecture on "The Danger Of Bird Missile"

And this is the response from Mugi-maru(the rabbit character)which clearly summarises my feeling sometimes after listening to so many of his instructions.

This is a pic from the infamous "Gatchaman Dansen"Video. Oh yeah, SHAKE DA BUTT, NAMBU HAKASE!YOU'RE THE MAN!thumbsup2

And finally, Nambu Hakase from the OVA, he is wearing a suit that actually should have been worn in the "Gatchaman Dansen Video".The suit will look so much better in the dance floor, John Travolta will not be able to compete with that.Dr. Nambu's hair is definitely the case of too much hairspray, and whatever happened to his sexy moustache???

Okay, This is a hasty job, so the colours don't match up that well...

I love your pics, Saturn! Now I feel the urge to make an animation of Dr. Nambu slurping his noodle.... ROFL 2

And LB, I can see the other colors, but wow! He sure has improved!!!!

"Sexy moustache?" Do we possibly have someone else here who's not immediately put off by mustaches?

His clothes in the OVA definitely put me off, though!
