One question that bothers me, why does the Owl have a V shape in his boots' toes? Is he missing toes?

That's a good question. I thought I saw somewhere that it had to do with the width of his feet, but I'm guessing it's just something the animators threw in...we need James for this one!

Oh, here is another owlie fact...Ryu is the only member of the team who is not an orphan (besides Ken at the beginning of the series...and Ken didn't know his Dad was alive). One of Ryu's big inner struggles is that he can't tell his family that he's on the SNT. His Dad often makes cutting remarks about him, like he's "worthless" and "lazy"...

Poor Ryu isn't far behind Ken, I guess, in having the "Father of the Year"...

I still wonder why the Owl and the Swallow don't have antennae on their helmets. Just what are those antennae for?????

Except, when it comes down to it (in Gatch F, I believe), Ryu's father finally learns who Ryu truly is, and he is proud of his son. No throwing across the room! (Although that might have something to do with Ryu's weight.... j/k!)

No, he's not missing any toes. The shape of the boots is just a detail designed to emulate the feet of an owl, the same way Jinpei's cape has the extra piece in the center to emulate the shape of a swallow's tail.

In Gatchaman 2 his family finally learn that he's a member of the SNT... (TJ I didn't see your post before I did this one.)
