SD Comic Convention

I was watching the G4 channel today, and yes it reminds me of the Swallow. They showed some footage from what appeared to be a Comic Convention, next they showed the dates , which were July 24 and 25th.

Just wanted to give all of you going a heads up, so maybe you could wind up on tv and the rest of us can laugh and giggle from home.

Any takers on it?????

Hi all!

Actually, the San Diego Comic Con is July 24th through the 27th, not just the 24th and 25th. Yes, a bunch of us will be there, since it has been the annual gathering spot for Gatchaman fans since 1997. Whether any of us will take the time to try to get in front of any of the TV cameras present there is another matter...

Hi all!

Honestly, it's more a matter of logistics than desire. You've got to understand, the Comic Con last year had 125,000 people attend. Of those people, TV crews are only going to get a small percentage of them on tape, and an even smaller percentage of those will make the final edit for what they decide to broadcast. It's easy to say you want to do it, it's much harder to actually pull it off.

Another quick update for any people who have been dragging their heels in deciding whether or not they want to attend the San Diego Comic Con this year. As of yesterday, memberships for both Friday and Saturday are completely sold out (Along with 4-day memberships, which sold out a while back). Thursday is around 66% sold out, and Sunday is around 50% sold out. If you plan to attend, buy your memberships as soon as possible, since Thursday and Sunday will likely sell out fairly soon and there will be no memberships sold at the con itself. Memberships can be purchased through the convention website at:

Thanks to Condorfan's scouting things out during Anime Expo, we now know that Imagi will have that animation test for Gatchaman playing at their booth. I know it won't be enough to satisfy all of us ("Yeah, all that Astro Boy stuff is nice, but what about Gatchaman?"), but I'm glad to know that they will have something for us to see when we all show up wearing our GatchaCon T-shirts...

Aside from that, of course, there will be plenty of fellow Gatchaman fans to meet at the con, as we have done there every year since 1997. Always a special event, if you ask me! The more the merrier, so I hope many of you can make it to the con!
