Gatchaman movie update
For those who haven't been updated the Gatchaman movie has a new director
Jun Falkenstein
With the Swan as the new director how could they go wrong!
This is a quote from Jun...someone posted on the mailing list;
I got signed to direct an animated feature film.
What this means is, sadly, I won't have time for machinima any more. I will be so crazy
busy. Besides, animation is my career, my first love, it's a world and a path that I
knew inside and out from a very young age. I love every single aspect of directing
animation, from arguing about story and characters, to laughing with voice actors, to
imagining the look and the world with the art department, to spending long days in
editorial making the storyboards sing, to seeing the animators create memorable
characters out of dreams and pixels, to sit in a sound stage with an orchestra pumping
all round you - and most of all, to work with some of the most creative and talented
people on this planet. All I ever wanted to do from day one was be an animation
director, and now I have another chance (and I will be working my ass off not to blow
it, believe you me).

Thank you for posting this!
Swan as the new director is a great choice
But, on the other hand, it seems that there are too many changes and problems during film-making and it is pretty sad.
*Yul is beginning to remember rumors about "cursed films" * LOL
And is release date postponed again?

I gather that a lot of this is normal... I think its because we all have so much interest in it that we are hearing all the details that you normally wouldn't know about... I'd rather they delayed it then rushed it, stuffing it up in the process just to make a quick buck.

I'll admit she's a lot more interesting than I was expecting.
Plus, not only is she a "Jun," but her blog is
http://www.stonefalconproductions.com
so we've got a bird of prey here too.
Hopefully she'll keep posting movie-related tidbits there.
The only problem is, she said that the movie now won't be released until 2010!!!!

Here's her response:

Yes, the release date of this mysterious unnamed film is probably early 2010 for several reasons. Sorry

Well, at least she said "early in 2010." I think Ebonyswanne is right, that these sort of delays probably aren't that unusual, but that we all notice, and groan, in this case because we're impatient to see the film.
I remember some people on the BOTP mailing list saying they were going to the ComicCon in San Diego this year with the assumption that Imagi would be there promoting the movie for a 2009 release -guess that's not going to happen now.
My 12-year old nephew and I used to joke that we would go to the movie's premiere in Gatch I civvies costumes. I told him he couldn't have #2, because that's mine. He wanted to be #1, but said he ought to be #4, "since I'm Jinpei's age." The way things are going now, he'll be just as close to Ken's age!
LOL.... the reason we think that Imagi will be promoting the Gatchaman movie at ComiCon is because they made a press release saying as much. Regardless, Imagi will be there promoting Astro Boy, I'm sure, so they WILL have a presence at ComiCon. I'll just have to hunt them down and have them give me the inside scoop on the film...

Ooh, right, I forgot about Astro Boy. I have never seen Astro Boy, but my sister told me it used to be on TV in Nova Scotia, early in the morning, when she was a undergrad in the late 80s -and she and her roommate watched it every morning. Me, I was never up early enough to have time to watch TV before school...
Well I am a little disapointed that the file is gong to be put off until 2010, but I would like to see it done well and not something thrown together.
BTW TJ,
I love the background of your new avatar, great stuff (how did you do it?)

So it's photoshop that lets you change backgrounds. I only have irfanview, which one can download for free.
(Will hint to boyfriend that his computers are deficient without photoshop...)
LOL.... our version of Photoshop is somehwat older and... uh.... 'borrowed'...
ETA I'm clearly an amateur at this, but if you have a background you want to use I could try to do it for you, Lborgia.

You can only "borrow" up to the CS version, after that version they fixed it so only two PC's at a time can "borrow" it.
But I'm sure someone will find a way around it
