Mmmmmmmmm

I'd better try out this new board thingy then, I think...

And I found out yesterday that another Sanami Matoh (FAKE) manga has been picked up for translation into english - hurrah! It's Yo-u, which is a fantasy work as far as I can tell (ok, I know very little about it and all I've seen are cover pictures, and I could just be confused, but I love her art style so I'm going to try to get it anyway), and is being done by ADV Manga.

From Sanami's official website, a not-very-helpful list of what mangas she's written.
www.sanami-matoh.com/info/list/comic_f.html

(wow this URL feature's strange, is it actually working properly? If I put a http:// at the front it gets converted wrong)

Off Topic: I propose the creation of a 'test' thread so folks can putter around getting used to the new code options since they are a bit tricky and hard to use at first. (Such as the http thingy...which is the same problem I had yesterday, Cep, and had to figure it out by trial and error). Admins could include tutorials there as problems arise and need addressing.

Off Topic: Still having trouble with the repy function....I've already tried to post to this thread once, and it did a funky " 'psyche'- By hitting 'post reply' I'm rerouting you to the REAL reply screen and deleting all you've already typed...so sorry start over"

I'm still figuring it out in my slow-to-learn manner. I think I tried to use quick reply without realizing it and there seems to be a bug in the quick reply function? Not sure yet.

On Topic: Hey Meridian...what is "Fake" manga? Is that western created comic using the manga style?

It's a manga named FAKE. Actually, there seem to be quite a lot of manga series with Fake in their name but this one is just called Fake. It's soft yaoi, and very yummy. I don't think Yo-u is yaoi, but the author is such a good storyteller and artist that I'm hoping it will be similarly entertaining.

There has been much debate over why it's called FAKE - one possibility is that it's because Ryo (the uke) will not admit to himself that he has leanings towards other men (well, one specific man). Another, which was the preferred theory last time I checked, is that Ms Matoh saw the word in an english dictionary and thought it looked cool.

It is a nice manga series because the uke isn't a girl-substitute as some seem to be, he's just a bit naive, and Dee (the seme) has tremendous charm too. They're great characters, with lots of fun supporting characters.

drool. Not as I'd pictured the Whites, but, hey, with that bod, he's entitled to something custom.

Just picking up Valdemar as the local library has them available. Always has books 2 and 3 of the trilogies, but I've found how to get first dibs, and even a phone call, when books come back.

The storyline takes place in a quasi-medieval reality. No such thing as tanktops or tight jeans, so I guess they have to make due.

I'd like to recommend Great Teacher Onizuka, an extremely popular manga in Japan that has now been turned into an anime and a movie.

He is an unconventional teacher to say the least. Hey, he ties naughty kids to the back of his motorbike and drags them around for a bit...then he dunks them in the river a few times...instant results!!

I think it's a pretty good form of school punishment...*grin*
