Anti-Valentine's Day Songs

So as many of you have guessed, I'm not a big fan of Valentine's Day...

I was just checking MSNBC.com for the latest news, when one of their articles caught my attention, "Anti-Valentine: Top 'I Hate Love' Songs of All Time", which was kinda funny, 'cuz I had just heard Love Stinks by the J. Geils Band on the radio while I was at lunch.

Anyway, I looked over their list, and have to say I liked most of the songs they picked, which included Love Stinks (of course), Love Hurts by Nazareth, Love Bites by Def Leppard, Irreplaceable by Beyonce, You Outta Know by Alannis Morrisette, and Somebody Kill Me by Adam Sandler from the Wedding Singer movie (though I think his version of Love Stinks in the film is classic!).

While reading through the list, it reminded me of when I was on the radio and how every year I had the "Anti-Valentine's Day Edition" of my show. I would always do a block of anti-love songs, which always kicked off with my favorite love sucks song, I Don't Believe in Love by Queensryche, and included Love Bites by Def Lep, Used to Love Her by G-n-R, etc.

So, I was thinking.... Everyone's requesting their favorite love songs on the radio today...But what are your favorite anti-love songs?? Anyone???

I didn't watch much of the Russian one, but the Rock Goddess one was just so 80's! ROFL 2

Before the RG version started, I thought it was Yngwie Malmsteen! I was like "Yngwie did an anti-love song? I thought he just bad-mouthed every other musician on the planet!" LOL!

Pretty much anything by Janis Joplin
The majority of the songs on Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Barracuda & Heartless by Heart

Hmmmm...I'd say there's quite a chunk of musicland devoted to this subject...most of them directed at one particular person in the writer's life...

Marcia Hines has almost every depressing anti-relationship song on every album...I was forced to listen to her greatest hits at work and I almost scratched the CD so it couldn't be played because it was depressing about relationships falling apart...and "you don't love me any more" songs...(well I hide it so it couldn't be played any more Smile
