What do you eat in a week?

These are pictures of what families in different countries around the world eat in a week.

I was surprised how little fresh produce was on the American tables, not to mention the amount of beer in Germany and the amount of candy in Poland! Of course, the smaller amounts of food in Africa make you think as well.

Well most of my fridge is fresh vegies, and I went shopping yesterday and I have lots of fresh stuff, some protien(meats, cheese, cottage cheese,salmon...)

Fresh fruit and veg
meat,fish
biscuits
breakfast cereals
cat food
formula for baby.
soft drink(about three bottles)
beer/wine.

Average bill $150.00
We rarely have pizza or take away food.

I see what you mean CEP! But then I did too LOL

(English family) The amount of chocolate on the table for snacks was amazing. I would be lucky to buy one block of chocolate in a week, when I'm away I might have a bit more.

Would the Americans on the board say that was the average family diet for their country? Just from what TJ said and the families they showed.

I think it depends. Not among people I know, but in certain areas, I would say yes.

Same here for us too...

In my area a lot of the shopping trolley's are full of processed stuff, over closer to the beaches they have more fresh food.

I didn't grow up with McDonalds, the first one opened after I left town, so to have delivery Pizza and processed food was more like a that than the norm.

I must be one of the few people I know that doesn't like McDonalds or those kind of chain food places...

Although I do like a Bondi burger from Alporto's...

I couldn't make out what exactly what food the African family did have, but I'm guessing it was probably alot more healthy and nutritious that most of the processed stuff than the families in the industrialized countries had.

It would be interesting to find out what the general health of the families are, their income etc. I also found it interesting that some families fed a much larger family for less $$$. There are so many variables that aren't touched upon...the culture and geography...

Yes I must admit the Africans had a lot less, but then it also shows how much you really need in your diet. I bet they are still happy, just life is different for them thats all.

The Mexicans had a lot of fresh food I noticed...

All that manufactured stuff we buy, all that sugar! I know I'm tempted every time I go to the supermarket...
