I thought I heard he was to play the Joker in an up coming Batman movie. Or was it he Played the Joker.

*Shrug* I was not paying that close an attention obviously. (I was in the middle of writing a story while the news was on. I was only waiting to see the weather forcast. More snow to hit tomorrow evening, if anyone is interested. Pleased)

He's a well liked Australian actor...lots of people I know are shocked by Heaths death... He's such an Aussie boy in so many ways.

I guess they'll bring him home now to be buried...

I think they said he has played the role of the joker in the upcoming batman movie.

Yeah, that's what I heard, too...very sad when stars get mixed up in drugs...they think it was a suicide...

I was so sad.... Heath was often my eye candy at the movies and I loved that Roar series he did a few years ago for TV.

I heard on the news today that they think it was accidental overdose on sleeping pills, as opposed to recreational drugs.

A lot of people here doubt that he'd commit suicide, if anything it was accidental. Heath's family are horrified about that rumour.

He wasn't known for drug use...

I have to admit...Aussies seam to get protective towards our Actors that go overseas to work...I don't know why but we do...It's like there is pride that they are making to the big screen movies or the music industry, but we hope they come home eventually...

His passing has been all over the NY news. It was the lead story on all the newscasts last night and either the lead or second story tonight. I'm not sure how much coverage or footage they're showing in the rest of the country (or overseas), but it's been extensive here. The lastest reports indicated that in addition to the autopsy being inconclusive and that he had both prescription and OTC sleeping pills, is that they found a $20 bill that may have narcotic residue on it and that it's being sent off to the lab for analysis. This was straight from the NYC Police Commissioner. I'm withholding all thoughts about that though. Just because it was there does not automatically make it his...

Anyway, the news has been showing stories of fan reactions and how they're gathering outside his apt in SoHo. Very sad. Supposedly he was very well-liked when he lived in Brooklyn with his gf, and was well-liked in SoHo too.

Hino it's been all over the news here, I have had friends in tears because you know it's Heath...the boy next door, the local boy Perth who was doing really well for himself...keeping clean etc, and he was actually getting some great roles, not just teen movie stuff like he started out with when he first went over to the states.

I feel sorry for his two year old daughter...

He was said to have been having a lot of trouble sleeping from his role as the joker in Batman...the drugs were perscription that they found near him...but i guess they will publish their findings soon.

It is sad that the role disturbed him so much that it caused these problems.

I am deeply saddened about this. But I'm going to wait for the toxicology report to come out before I believe any rumours. I certainly don't like the way it's being publicized...wait till you have the facts people.

I personally don't think it was suicide. More like an accidental OD. I'm on sleeping meds too. It's very easy to forget that you've already taken your dose. Or to have an OTC cold remedy, vitamin supplement, or even certain foods that react dangerously with your meds.

Eg...I have to be careful of specific ingredients in cold meds with my SSRI's...then there's also my migraine meds...I can't take Triptans for my migraines because they react with the SSRI's.

Allergy meds..the same thing.

Obviously alcohol is a no-no. Pseudoephedrine or ephedrine supplements which are amphetamine-like stimulants (think Crystal Meth/Ecstacy are made from these)...I'll quote from my "Migraines for Dummies" book...

Ephedrine products: "...these supplements may cause possible adverse effects that range from headache, dizziness, and heart palpitations to heart attack, stroke, seizures, psychosis, and death."

Caffeine (it is a drug) ...got to watch the intake...obviously coffee, tea, cola, but it's also an ingredient in many cold remedies, migraine meds w/ codeine (Tylenol 3, Fioricet, Fiorinal) migraine meds w/oxycodone (Percacet, Percadan), OTC allergy meds, and also asthma meds ...having an attack and don't have your inhaler handy? Drink a cup of black coffee in the interim...

So take any of these meds and wonder why your sleeping meds aren't working....or forgot that you took them already and suddenly the caffeine wears off...and BANG...your heart and nervous system just had a roller coaster ride!

My mom can't eat grapefruit because it intereacts with her heart meds!

So watch what you take, (I get DH to remind me what time I took stuff), ask your doctor (they are human and can make mistakes), and ask your pharmacist. I drive my guy nuts with questions.

Church plans to protest Ledger's memorial

Grrrrr... some people in this world just make me sick to my stomach! Angryfire

From before he left to build a career in the states Heath was know for putting his all into a role, so I wasn't surprised to hear he was having sleeping problems if he was so absorbed in the role of the joker...

But you right Kimi, we can forget that prescription medicine can be dangerous and in situations like Heaths he could have been so tired he was willing to take just one more to get some sleep not realizing it was one to many.

The toxicology reports will confirm how he died, but still, it's sad for his family and I believe they will bring his body home to Perth in Western Australia.

I still remember him living in Sydney years ago before he left for America, it didnt' seem that long ago. I'm glad he came back recently to a movie here, he seemed to happy to work in Australia before he took on more Hollywood movie roles from interviews that I saw.
