Problems with copyrights on Youtube
Hi, everyone,
I just want to tell about problems with copyrights on Youtube.
Not long ago I uploded opening video from one of Simpsons episodes where Marge was dressed as Swan Jun. Few hours ago I got Youtube notification that Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation claiming that this material is infringing and video was deleted. On the one hand they are right, but on the other hand I don`t think that Simpsons creaters had the same copyright to use Tatsunoko`s characters because it`s just a parody. IMHO, the fact of infringement looks like madness, in huge part of Youtube videos are used music, pictures and ect . which don`t belong to uploders. Of course, may be Twentieth Century Fox as well-known company prohibits using any of their materials, but there are a lot of other Simpsons stuff on Youtube. Something strange is happening. And it`s great that Tatsunoko and other companies which have Gatchaman copyrights don`t act like Twentieth Century Fox.

ITA with you, Yul. It's annoying that they feel they have to 'protect' such short clips. But OTOH, I can see why they do it.

While I'm not a lawyer, I believe that in the case of the simpsons, the use of tatsunoku's images are legal (at least in the US) because they would be deemed as fair use because they would be considered a parody. Course that doesn't stop some companies to try to shut down parodies/satire images that are legal. Sometimes they succeed and sometimes the courts don't let them succeed.
I used to have a channel at Youtube and it got shut down because of too many copyright violations. I have no grudge about it - after all, I was using other people's property - but I was often surprised about what would bring the complaint. In my case it often was the more obscure stuff (mainly Space Ghost & Lupin III vids).
Last year, Youtube was forced to remove something like 10,000 vids from the site that were Japanese music/movies/TV/anime clips because the Japanese companies objected to them. So it isn't just American companies that do it. That's my experience with Youtube.

Corporation`s claims to Youtube is not difficult to understand, but at the same time there are a lot of other ways to share materials without any observance of copryrights
such as sharing them in local Nets or for eMule. Youtube`s ploblem is that it is too popular among internet users.
By the way, all episodes of Gatchaman I from ADV DVDs can be found here - http://www.torrentportal.com

thanks Yul. I have downloaded some of the Gatch I eps, but I still haven't found absolutely nothing about the F series! If you see those on the torrents could you point them out to me, please?
