Tatsunoko Baby

Hi all!

Some of you might recall the Tatsunoko Baby campaign that ran on the Excite website in Japan a few years back. It featured baby versions of many of Tatsunoko's popular characters, including the Gatchaman characters. Think Tatsunoko meets Muppet Babies or the Flintstone Kids and you'll have the general idea.

The characters for the Tatsunoko Baby campaign were designed by Suzuka Yoshida, the daughter of Tatsuo Yoshida. Suzuka has her own section on the Tatsunoko website, where some of the artwork she has done for the studio is being displayed. Just recently, several previously unseen design drawings for Tatsunoko Baby were added to the site, including a handful of the Gatchaman characters, retitled the Gatchan 5. They can be found on the Suzuka Museum page at:

Suzuka Museum

The Tatsunoko Baby images are toward the top of the page, after a small biography of Suzuka Yoshida and some images of the Tatsunoko Baby versions of the characters from Casshan. There are also a trio of her drawings of the regular versions of Ken and Jun at the bottom of the page, which those of you with good memories might remember from when I posted about those a while back.

Enjoy!

James

Nope, sill from Gatch 1. The Gatch 2 Phoeninx was red and white.

Love the leggy phoenix. The babies, though, remind me of a pre-teen girl overdoing the "ooooh, it's gotta be cuuuute!" phase.
