Your first fanfic.

Have you looked back on something you wrote a decade ago. have seen progress?

Been going over the first few fics I wrote when I didn't even know what a beta was. Until TJ and Springie kindly offered help took me under their swannie wings.

Recently I was contacted by a Gatch fan writing her first fic but shes not in the forums, I think she's shy.( I did invite her come and join.) Put an offer out there to beta.
Shes inspired by the fandom. Lovely to see a new writer stepping out. Its a brave thing to do really.

Anyway.... Some are now 10 years old and I'd forgotten some it. Writing has improved in later stories.

I'm not sure I have my first few. I didn't know what fanfic was as a kid, but I'm just about positive I wrote it using BOTP. Smile

It's not too hard to check out my first fanfic ever...it's an episode rewrite called "...And Their Stupid Dog". You can find it at:

http://gatchfanfic.com/viewstory.php?sid=1218

It was going to be a response to a challenge requiring a rewrite that made the silly bits of an episode make sense. Well, my sillier, more sarcastic nature kept beating the crap out of my serious nature and leaving it bleeding on the side of the road. So, I grabbed a notebook, set the DVD player to loop the Puppy Episode, and scribbled away until I had the finished form.

I wrote stories as a kid. I know I did one page around 13yrs old about Mark & Princess. Not dure really of the plot.
Stopped writing and did art, opened an art studio for about 10yrs had classes and caught up with BOTP and discovered peoples fanfic. I heaps, about a year before writing anything. Before that my work didn’t involve computers really. How it is in retail and porcelain arts.

My first posted one was. " As time goes by." Vingette.

I'm hearing you on that one. No one called it fanfic in the 80s. I didn't know others who even liked writing stories. I like english but I more interested in history at school.
Especially people in history.

What made them tick.
( Could have a lot to do with my current career direction and studies.) 2 1/2 more years to go. 3 done... fanfic has to be my distraction from it. I get through the work and assignments and write... draw... raise kids...
I'm looking for my cape and shield..
Sword.

When I was in elementary school and junior high (ages 6-14), it was pounded into my head that one NEVER used other people's characters. Then, in high school (ages 15-18 ), I learned that it was possible, but one must get the author's permission first (and it was rare for an author to place his/her beloved creation into the hands of an unknown.) I had heard of fanfic during this time, but it was total crap as well as lethal to any professional writing career.

First fanfic?

That would be "A Night To Remember" borne from a 2 second clip of a YouTube compilation vid of Swan/Eagle 'romance' scenes, about 6/7 years ago.

I'd been 'shipping Mark and Princess as a Teenager back in the '80's, even imagining fics around the pair of them, but it never occurred to me to write any of them down. I think if I had, and they'd been discovered, it would have become a source of ridicule among my peers at the time! (BotP was not a 'cool' thing to be into around my parts.)

It was all transformers. Girls apparently didn't watch "Superhero stuff." Except Wonder Woman.

None of my friends watched BOTP. My boyfriend in my teens was okay with my quirks, he married me, a good sign. Wink

I've been shipping Swan/Eagle since I was a teen. I admit I've tried Condor/Swan and my fics fell flat for me. (I like the Condor with Devilstars. Dunno why, its how I see him.)

So I'm back to Swan/Eagle ship, and enjoy it in the fandom. I only write BOTP/ Gatch. Outside of that its historical.

LOL, it's funny how stories have a total mind of their own.

CW- I still do, but its become storage in the last few years. The next part of the next renovations is to bring it back to life. Clean out the boxes etc. Redesign the layout.

The only problem is I could live out there. I did when it was running before. I used to send DH emails cause thats when I got my own computer... he was in the main house. Too funny.

Then I'll have a proper drawing table, kiln set in place correctly. (Serviced.) Girls can do their school art projects out there.

I never knew anything about fan fiction until around 5 to 7 years ago. All my life I have been imagining my own stories involving my favourite characters from TV shows I've watched and loved, but never really wrote any of them down until last year.
I did find a piece of creative writing from primary (elementary) school recently that might be considered fan fiction. It's from about 3rd or 4th grade - it's in pen, so I must have been old enough to have my pen license! I guess it was meant to be written as a newspaper article.
As written, mistakes and all, it goes like this:

BATMAN DEAD!
And Robin's Identity Discovered

Midnight last night Batman and Robin were seen fighting with the Joker and the Penguine at FAROUT FISH WAREHOUSE. For the first time in the dynamic duo's lives the Joker and the Penguine were armed with knifes, guns and spears.

At half past 3 this morning the body of Batman was found. Upsairs fighting was still going on between Robin, the Joker and the Penguine. The police arrested Joker and Penguine and Robin was taken to hospital.

Before operating on the Boy Wonder the doctors of Gothom City Hospital had to take off Robins mask to investigate atrickle of blood coming from the eye. At this time Robin was unconscious at this time so the doctors couldn't consult him. In the end the took off the mask revealing Robin's true identity - Dick Greyson, ward of Millionare Bruce Wayne. (It was later found out that Bruce Wayne was Batman)

Current report on Dick's condition is critical and he is in intensive care. What will we do without Batman?

An interview with Dick Greyson and his Aunt will be covered by Gothom News' Afternoon edition.

Katblu42.

I love the FAROUT FISH Warehouse. Thats a kid talking. About the length of my kids the same age as you would have been's stories.

My 10yr old is currently into Batgirl and Star wars fandoms. For their generation fanfics might become more accepted than it was for us. (Less 'nerdy'.)

Blown identity, wonder what the conclusion would have been. Smile Thanks for sharing it.

OK so I'm very late to this party... LOL story of my life sometimes Roll

I wrote my first fanfic a little over 3 years ago. It's a Voltron fic that's based on some ideas that had been bouncing around in my head back when I first watched the series in '84. It had always existed more as an "in my head roleplay" than a fic until that point and I'd never really considered writing until then.

I had however been active in a Star Trek Voyager shipper/fanfic group on Yahoo! around 1996. I never wrote, partly because I didn't have stories to tell and partly because I never really had the urge to give writing a try. It was never a skill I was interested in or that I thought I had any talent in. (We had to write "books" in 6th grade for an English assignment and mine was a disaster - mostly I listed things that the main character ate at each meal if I remember correctly.)

Anyway I did a lot of reading and commenting with that group and helped create a group only closed archive etc.

Over time, the group quieted down as the show wound down and life pulled me in other directions. Then in late 2013/early 2014 I was watching tv with hubby and the show referenced Voltron. That brought back a bunch of memories and I went websurfing and found some Voltron sites/groups and ended up joining a group that was similar to the Voyager one I'd been a part of so many years before. This time though, the bug hit and I started writing. A random side conversation with another person convinced me to pick up a pencil and try art too. (Up until then I thought stick figures were my upper limit)

Thinking of Voltron reminded me of watching BotP when I was even younger (I mostly remembered the names and the vehicles and the birdsuits - a little of the faces/personalities, but I was probably 6 when I watched it back in the day) so I did more surfing and ended up here. I used time to draw/write as motivation to get my schoolwork done (I was doing full time college and had a full time job at the time - not to mention hubby, my now nearly 20 year old, and all our pets - cats, turtles, hermit crabs vying for my attention). I'd always pad the amount of time I needed for reading/assignments to give myself an opportunity for creativity to unwind with afterwards.

These days, I don't have school anymore, but I seem to have less free time (there are a variety of reasons). So when I do get time, I try to create in one or more of my fandoms. Someday I'll even finish some of what I'm working on again Angel1

I still have a story I wrote when I was fourteen. Hand written and illustrated. It was a fantasy story. The mark was put out of 50 and I got 49/ 50 for it in creative writing. My teacher used it as an example in class of storytelling ... I was a quiet teenager and wanted to hide!

School was a tough place for this swan... ( Im okay to admit it... too. )
But anything creative I could do. History I could learn easily.
I later discovered I'm a high visual learner. Now when I study I turn it more visually in my mind, and draw it if I have too.
I love visual tutorials.

Mylari: Nice to see your pixels here. Smile

Ebonyswanne: The social part of school was definitely where I had trouble. There's a reason I've never made the effort to go to a reunion. Though, part of that is also that it's in FL in August, which is just cruel. Smile
